About Peru

  • Peru is a very geographically diverse country. They have many different types of environments, from deserts to altrainforests, coastline to mountains.
  • They have just about every element and mineral known to man such as gold, tin, iron and uranium.
  • Very few main highways, you must take dirt roads and then walk several hours to reach a large part of the unreached peoples
  • Total land area about 798,598 square miles.
  • Language- Spanish, Aymara, and Quechua ( the Gospel has yet to be translated into Quechua)
  • Population- over 28 million
  • 75% are without electric
  • Most have no water or sewage
  • Poverty is so extreme that many try to go to the cities for a better life, but this adds to the problems
  • Many ailments that are easily treated here, are fatal to the people in Peru because of the unavailable healthcare
  • A large portion of the population suffers from malnutrition and worms
